Be Free

People will hurt your heart, they will hurt your mind, and they will hurt your body - directly or as a side effect of their behavior. Each hurt has its own distinct feeling and result on your development as a human being.

You can cope, dwell, fight fire with fire, and convince yourself of the lie that time heals all wounds when in reality, all time does is make you forget for a while. You can ride the roller coaster each of those pains puts you on and learn how to steer with each new cut, each time naively believing you'll be in control.

Every one of those pains is a vicious cycle we keep regenerating in a vain attempt to prove we're worthy of those who believe we are not. That we can win the love and loyalty those people we care about promised so many times to give.

There is another kind of pain that is stronger than the rest. It is different. It is more definitive and has the power to finally wake us up to the reality of the situation we are in, even if our hearts still stubbornly refuse to see it. It is the pain of the soul.

When a person has cut through your heart, burrowed through your mind, caused you to give all of yourself to the point even your body suffers, all that is left is the soul. It is at that point when you feel your soul burning with their approach to take it, as well, that you know there is more to you than you ever dreamed possible. It is at that moment when you feel that undeniable pain that you realize you're fighting to keep something that has only taken everything for a person who gave nothing. And it is at that point when you realize you belong to your soul, not the other way around, and in giving it control, you discover the person within that you never knew was there but always wished to be.
